Technical guidelines

From PenguinWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

To encourage as wide a participation as possible we have tried to make this site as easy to navigate and use as we could. But if anyone has any suggestions as to how we could make it still easier, please contact us at the address shown in the left hand column.

A Million Penguins uses the mediawiki engine, which is the wiki format that powers wikipedia. Anyone who has edited entries on wikipedia should find the interface familiar. There are useful articles on editing here and particularly here.

Most browsers will display a simple wysiwyg interface (the blue buttons) at the top of the screen and in general you should use these to add formating and links. We have disabled the facilities to insert pictures or media files for copyright reasons and to preserve the integrity of the narrative. One thing that it is vital to note is that if you navigate away from a page without saving, your changes will be lost.

  • What do the various links and buttons do?
